karcher pressure washers - HD 5/11

Explaining Karcher HD 5/11 Pressure Washers

Here at Britclean, we stock a number of Karcher pressure washers, with one of our most popular models being the HD 5/11.

For this blog, we will look at this machine in greater detail and highlight some of its unique features and how it can be used.

HD 5/11 – The Portable Pressure Washer Option

The HD 5/11 offers professional quality and performance in a truly portable package for users. Because of its compact dimensions, lightweight and a built-in carry handle, it is incredibly easy to move up steps or ladders.

The machine also has several features that are usually found in much more expensive washers, such as the automatic pressure relief feature which protects internal components on start-up plus the Easy Press trigger gun with rotating lance and high-grade hose and power cable.

HD 5/11 has all of its professional-grade accessories stored on-board, giving easy access and helping to prevent trip hazards. It has only one on/off switch plus a retractable push handle which makes it ultra-compact. Nozzles are stored in specific compartments with the power cord secured in a practical rubber strap.

You can use also this pressure washer upright or horizontally, for an optimal working position.

The automatic pressure relief system protects and extends the service life of the components. With a durable and robust design, the HD 5/11 is made for tougher cleaning tasks.

Don’t Take Our Word For It

Don’t take our word for it though, when it comes to the Karcher HD 5/11 pressure washer, here is what customer Gareth Hodgson had to say about it –

“Excellent cleaning power with this Karcher commercial pressure washer. I would highly recommend it.”

Karcher jet washer equipment

How To Setup a Karcher Jet Washer

If you have never owned a Karcher jet washer before and aren’t sure how to work it we have got you covered. In our latest blog, Britclean is going to talk you through the process.

Using a Pressure Washer for the First Time

Setting up a Karcher pressure washer is really simple, all you need is a water supply and somewhere safe to plug it in.

Every Karcher jet washer from Britclean comes with a standard hose pipe adapter but if you are drawing from a water bucket, the suction hose and filter kit fit directly onto your machine.

A mains fed garden hose pipe should be at least 15 metres long, which will help you an even supply by using the free-flowing hose pipe adapter on the end of your hose.

Connect the water supply and turn on the tap then squeeze the trigger until the water is running freely through the machine in a steady stream. This will remove airlocks in the system. Now connect to a power source, turn on your jet washer at the switch and you will hear the motor activate for a few seconds then stop.

This is quite normal, it is just your machine pressurising itself.

Packing Your Karcher Jet Washer Away

To pack your Karcher pressure washer away, turn off the machine and turn off your water supply. Pull the trigger to release the remaining pressure and then remove the hose pipe from the machine.

Remove the high-pressure hose and to flush through the last few drops of water left in the pump. Turn the machine back on for 5 seconds and then turn it off again. This is especially important during the winter period.

Your pressure washer can now be stored away ready for its next jet washing adventure.

karcher pressure washers - turbo nozzles cleaning a carpet

What is the best way to remove a nozzle from Karcher Pressure Washers?

Britclean is proud to be one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Karcher pressure washers from domestic and commercial clients.

Our range of Karcher electric pressure washers are available with various nozzles to direct the spray of water in different ways for a number of outdoor tasks.

For example, you may need to change to a high-pressure nozzle when looking to remove moss from your patio after using a softer spray nozzle for cleaning your car.

Changing the nozzle on your pressure washer is designed to be easy, and for our latest blog, we are going to explain this in four simple steps.

4 Steps to Removing Nozzles from Pressure Washers

1. Switch the pressure washer off by turning the power dial to the position that is marked ‘0’.

2. Twist the nozzle where it meets the trigger handle counterclockwise which detaches it from the pressure washer.

3. Insert the new nozzle into the trigger and turn it clockwise which locks it into place.

4. Turn the pressure washer back on and your new nozzle will be ready to use.

Turbo Nozzles available from Britclean

The turbo nozzle increases cleaning performance by up to 30% without putting any extra load on the machine itself.

Our turbo nozzles produce a very fine jet of water that is offset at an angle which then sprays round in a circle and produces a cutting and hammer action which makes it ideal for using on milking parlour walls or removing stubborn debris.

Getting the correct size of the nozzle is important as some areas do not suit the use of turbo nozzles. One example is when you are cleaning your car but for a number of other jobs, they will produce superb results.

Winter Maintenance of Karcher Pressure Washers

The British winter brings dark mornings and evenings plus heavy frost, but using a Karcher pressure washer can help to keep your yard clean.

Here at Britclean, we offer a host of well-known brands such as Karcher, Ehrle, Nilfisk, Interpump plus our own brand of pressure washers.

In our latest blog, we are going to share some storage tips for your pressure washer, to make sure it can be used all year round.

Winterising your Pressure Washer

We are going to focus on essential areas to keep your pressure washer protected from colder conditions

With freezing temperatures at night during the winter, you can’t just pack your pressure washer away and have it spent weeks or months in a shed. You will need to carry out some maintenance tasks so that when it comes to using it again it is working properly.

Four Essential Steps

Flush – Firstly, fill your detergent tank with warm water and if you have a suction tube place it into a warm bottle of water and turn on the pressure washer. This will remove any residual soap and helps to clean the inside of the equipment.
Disconnect – Start disconnecting parts of the pressure washer, removing the lance and hose and drain any water left inside. For the hose, you may be required to drain any leftover water out then coil it up ready for storage.
Power Up – Now power up the pressure washer again, but without the hose and lance connected. This will help to remove the remaining water in the system. Turning it on and rocking the pressure washer gently will ensure all water is blasted out. Do this for 10-15 seconds then turn it off.
Storage – Once all the parts have been removed and water is drained out, you can unplug and coil all hose and power leads up ready for storage. We would recommend keeping your pressure washer in your house, business premises or garage to prevent winter damage from the cold. Not following these steps, can cause cracks to internal pipes or damage to the seals.

Outside Taps

Once your pressure washer is stored away you will need to look at your outside tap. Remember an outside tap can freeze and could burst or cause pipe damage. This can be prevented by using an outside tap jacket which helps to insulate the tap and prevent the cold and frost from freezing it.

industrial pressure washer hire in derbyshire

Essential Questions About Industrial Pressure Washer Hire in Derbyshire

Industrial pressure washer hire in Derbyshire from Britclean will give you a cleaning product that will deal with the toughest surfaces.

From cleaning mud from your patio, dried on-dirt from your car or grease from a barbeque; using a pressure washer is a great time saver.
If you’ve never used a pressure washer before we are going to answer some frequently answer questions we often get asked.

How do Industrial Pressure Washers Work?

Pressure washers work by delivering a robust, concentrated stream of water which removes more dirt, quicker than a scrubbing brush.
If you regularly host garden parties hiring an industrial pressure washer is a must for all areas of your garden and outdoor living space.

What Type of Pressure Washer Do I Need?

The amount of pressure the model can deliver is a key consideration, as the more pressure you’ve got, the more power you can blast directly at the dirt.
The pressure of every washer is measured in bars with a maximum of 120 bars of pressure ideal for patios, fences and dirty cars. If you require heavy-duty cleaning, we would recommend using a pressure washer with above 120 bars.

Britclean has the widest range of industrial pressure washers including well-known brands such as Karcher, Nilfisk, Ehrle and our own home brand.

Lances and Nozzles

The majority of pressure washers come with one lance, a long tube with a nozzle at the end. Some machines come with a variable pressure lance that allows you to twist the nozzle at the end that alters the spray (much the same as a hosepipe).

The Rise of Cordless Models

Cordless models are becoming increasingly popular. They tend to run on battery power, have lower maximum pressure and feature an internal water tank.
These sort of washers are best suited to smaller jobs such as gardens or cleaning small areas.

The Many Features of Industrial Pressure Washers in Shropshire

Industrial pressure washers in Shropshire from Britclean have plenty of unique features that can be utilised for numerous cleaning tasks.
Pressure washers deliver a powerful concentrated jet of water that removes dirt more efficiently than a brush and uses less water than a garden hose.
Using a pump to create a high-pressure flow of water the washer dislodges dirt more quickly and effectively.

How Industrial Pressure Washers in Shropshire Work

Here we are going to look at the common features of the majority of industrial pressure washers and how they work.

Body – The plastic housing contains the motor and the pump, with larger models giving a robust cleaning experience.
Washer Hose – Typically starting at 3 metres, hoses can extend up to 10m in bigger pressure washers which makes it easier move around without moving the unit as you go. This can be especially handy if you’re using a jet washer to clean your car.
The more powerful the washer, the wide and thicker the hose needs to be to prevent it bursting under the pressure of the water.
Trigger and Handle – When the motor is on the water will only flow from the nozzle when you squeeze the trigger. The majority of jet washers will automatically turn off when the trigger is released.
Lances and Nozzles – The lance is a long plastic tube which connects the trigger and handle of your pressure washer to the nozzle. This creates your spray jet and means that you don’t have to stoop over to hold the spray close to the object you’re cleaning.

Karcher Pressure Washers in Derbyshire

Karcher Pressure Washers in Derbyshire for Cleaning Gutters

Gutters can be one of the hardest areas of your home to clean – unless you’re using one of our Karcher Pressure Washers!

Here at Britclean, have hundreds of hot and cold Karcher pressure washers in Derbyshire, using patented nozzle technology that will save you money on energy bills using up to 50% less water than conventional cleaning methods.

Tips for Cleaning with Karcher Pressure Washers in Derbyshire

  1. Tough stains on your gutters will require some detergent for a thorough clean, and before you soap, the surfaces make sure you soak everything with clean water. This prevents damage to the surrounding foliage when rinsing away large pieces of dirt.Start with a low-pressure nozzle for your first rinse so you don’t damage foliage and propel dirt and debris into the soffits. Also, make sure you rinse the outside of your gutters clean too.
  1. Fill your detergent tank with a cleaning solution and if you’re using a concentrated detergent be sure to dilute it using the instructions on the container. Begin with applying the detergent to the soffits and the outside of your gutters. Don’t face the soffits directly, instead of aiming ahead of yourself and a little to the side.
  2. Once the soffits and outside of the gutters are covered with detergent let the dirt and stains come loose, then you can start spraying both areas using your Karcher Pressure Washer at the same area you began spraying the detergent, to begin with. Some spots may be a little more stubborn so take more time spraying them than others to ensure a balanced clean for your gutters.
  1. Once you’ve finished using the high-pressure option, switch back to the low-pressure nozzle and spray clean water to rinse away any remaining detergent.
  2. Start near a downspout and spray away from it and progress down the length of the gutter and with enough pressure the water will force the debris out of the gutter. Just be wary of trying to force too much debris down in one go, as it could become clogged.

There is also a safety element in using a pressure washer as you can clean your gutters with your feet planted on the ground, with no need for a ladder.
